AT THE CANYON:
We arrived at the Grand Canyon South Rim at night. On the way we by passed Las Vegas and took an escorted tour of Hoover Dam. We were absolutly surprised the next morning when we saw the canyon for the first time.

It totally overwhelmed us. All else that we had seen on the trip paled in comparison to the majesty and sheer size of the place. The Yosemite Vally was just a 10% of the Grand Canyon. The Death Vally seemed sterile in comparison to this color rich chasm. My fears of Grand Canyon being not on the equal scale to the Yosemite Vally were absolutely unfounded. For the next few days we tooks many a photographs and below is a fair selection from it. However, the pictures do not convey the insignificance one feels when standing upon canyon rim. You must visit the Grand Canyon to appreciate its true beauty.

THE END:
We spend a tremendous week at the canyon. For couple of days we just sat there and stared at the expanse trying to take in all the beauty. The best site we saw was the new years eve. The moon was full. The colorado river was reflecting the moon light back. Moon light and the its reflection from water had lit the canyon in the most beautiful shades of gray that I have ever seen. It was like looking at a life size black and white picture done by a master.

Day after the new years we packed our gear and left for home. We drove 13 hours straight and made it back home to Santa Clara.
